Fague called Johnston Police Headquarters on May 12 around 11 am to report a threatening text message he received from a former neighbor.

Ptlm. Mark Bairos reported that he went to the at 2154 Hartford Ave. to speak with Fague, who said that he and his girlfriend have had problems with the woman in the past. The manager told Bairos that he'd heard a loud bang in the middle of the night, and later found three slashed tires on his car and fluid pouring from the radiator.

Bairos reported that the manager suspected Fague's girlfriend, but hadn't called police about the damage because he couldn't prove that she'd caused it.

According to Bairos's report, the manager also said that he knew Fague stored guns above the ceiling tiles of his room.

Fague’s girlfriend said that Fague vandalized the car after he found about the argument she'd had with the manager’s son, Bairos wrote, and Fague admitted to keeping a rifle.

Bairos and Ptlm. Matthew Winsor found the .50-cal. black powder rifle stashed above the ceiling tiles, according to police reports.

During a follow-up investigation, Det. Raymond Peters reported that he found a plastic bag containing Prozac pills, and concluded that Fague's rifle had been used to shoot at the radiator of the manager's car.

Officers presented Fague, who has a breaking and entering conviction from 1987, for arraignment at police headquarters. After failing to meet the $25,000 bail terms, Fague was transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions, Cranston, to await a court hearing.

Fague was arraigned on May 12 and his bail was set at $25,000. Fague was transported to the ACI because he could not make bail.

On May 14, Fague appeared for formal arraignment in Third District Court, Warwick, and was ordered held without bail at the ACI until a scheduled July 13 court hearing.
