The Cranston Fire Department extinguished a blaze at a single-family home on Park Avenue this morning.

Members of the Cranston Fire Department fought a fire at a Park Avenue home this morning.

Firefighters responded to a single-family home at 414 Park Ave. around 11:30 a.m. and found the cause of the fire in the basement, according to scanner reports.

The fire was knocked down less than 20 minutes after firefighters first arrived.

This is a developing story and police, fire and rescue officials are still working the scene. More information will be posted when it becomes available.

Developing story? Where is the update? I've passed by this house on my way to and from work, since Wednesday night. (I work the night shift). The first night I noticed the two police cars at the curbside in front of the house, and since then there is always one parked there when I pass by. I realize someone may be privately paying to prevent vandalism or something, but really? Why is it being guarded by Cranston police? And, isn't this the house that I read about the problem a week before the fire that had some type of carbon dioxide problem?

I was wondering the same thing regarding the police.

I lived in that house for almost 6 years and them saying no working smoke detectors is a lie there are 3 of them that are all hardwired together the members living there must have taken them down but if one went off all three did

You really didn't mean 'carbon DIOXIDE' did you? There is a great deal of difference between carbon dioxide and carbon MONOXIDE. One is lethal.
