Disgraced Cop Ciccone Fired after Internal Investigation

The former Johnston Police Officer charged with multiple crimes for an alleged drug money shakedown in Warwick earlier this week has been fired after a brisk and thorough internal investigation.

Dep. Chief Daniel Parrillo said Officer Marisa Ciccone was terminated for "multiple violations of the department's rules and regulations and policy and procedure."

Ciccone was a probationary officer hired last December, which means she is not eligible for protection under the Police Officers' Bill of Rights and the termination is effective immediately.

Ciccone, 24, allegedly broke into a house in Warwick on Monday demanding drug money owed to her by a former resident of the house.

According to a police report, the owner of the house told police that Ciccone was selling drugs with his former roommate and her boyfriend, James Fortin, 44, of Warren. That roommate had been kicked out and Ciccone reportedly threatened to "blow everybody away" if she wasn't given his location.

Ciccone was reportedly intoxicated and punched a 17-year-old girl at the house who tried to intervene when Ciccone was threatening her parents.

All told, Ciccone is facing charges of breaking and entering, disorderly conduct and simple assault.

She was arraigned Monday and released on personal recognizance. She is due to appear in court for an Attorney General screening on Sept. 16.

Officers with Johnston Police said they were shocked to learn about the charges and that there weren't any warning signs.
