Council President Testifies Coworker's Husband Attacked Him

Town Council President Robert Russo told Providence District Court he suffered cuts and an injured finger in the December assault.


Johnston Town Council President Robert V. Russo told the District Court Tuesday that he suffered cuts and bruises after being attacked outside a local bakery, the Providence Journal reported

Russo took the stand Providence District Court Tuesday, accusing a co-worker's husband of assaulting him outside Seven Stars Bakery in Providence on Dec. 4. 

Russo told the court David Batista punched him in the head as he walked out of the bakery. The pair exchanged further punches and wrestled on the ground, then Batista put him in a headlock before finally letting him go and leaving, Russo told the court.

In addition to cuts to his knees, Russo said he suffered a minor injury to his finger and torn clothes.
