Convicted Murderer to Be Sentenced Tomorrow

Donald Greenslit is scheduled to appear for sentencing Wednesday morning in Providence Superior Court.

 

The Johnston man convicted in the 2012 killing of his girlfriend is scheduled for sentencing tomorrow, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General's office.

Donald Greenslit, 53, was found guilty on March 11 of one count each of first-degree domestic murder, obstructing police, violating a no-contact order, and failure to report a death.

A Providence Superior Court jury ruled that Greenslit killed Stacie Dorego, then dismembered her body and attempted to burn her remains.

Members of the Johnston Police Department responded to the scene at about 8:10 pm on Jan. 22, 2012 in reference to a report of smoke coming from the home.

Greenslit tried to keep firefighters and police officers out of the home when they arrived.

His sentencing is scheduled for 9:30 am before Superior Court Judge Susan McGuirl.
