B&E Suspect Arrested via Fingerprint Evidence

Johnston Police caught a 46-year-old Warren man and charged him with breaking and entering in connection with a November robbery of a Bishop Hill Road house.

Johnston Police caught a 46-year-old Warren man and charged him with breaking and entering in connection with a November robbery of a Bishop Hill Road house.

According to police, Austin G. Thorpe Jr., of 511 Child St., Warren, was determined to be the suspect in the break-in after a fingerprint was lifted from a jewelry box at the house.

Thorpe was arrested by Cranston Police and turned over to Johnston Police before he was arraigned on the new charges.

He is due to appear in court on Aug. 21 for a prearrangement conference.

Police said Thorpe stole about $1,300 worth of jewelry from the house.

Thorpe has a long criminal career spanning 30 arrests on a variety of charges including breaking and entering, drugs and assault charges.

He was ordered held without bail.
