Wilkins explained that the elder Izzo stated that he had suffered broken ribs from his son knocking him down on May 1 and dragging him down the stairs of their residence, which also left him temporarily unconscious.

Altomari wrote that Carl F. Izzo said he at first declined to file a police report about the incident because his wife and daughter-in-law were concerned that the younger Izzo wouldn't be able to see his daughter.

Because he was "in constant pain since the assault," Altomari wrote, Carl F. Izzo said he later decided to call the police department.

Officers drafted a warrant for Carl D. Izzo on May 5, and went to the home to look for him the next day.

Ptlm. Matthew Winsor reported that at about 12 pm on May 6, he and two other officers went to the Izzos' residence and found the younger Izzo "standing in a tree approximately six feet off the ground."

Izzo refused to climb down until a rescue vehicle arrived, Winsor wrote in his report. Johnston Fire and Rescue personnel arrived a short time later.

Justice of the Peace Christopher Millea arraigned Izzo at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence and set bail at $10,000 personal recognizance. Izzo was released until a court hearing scheduled for July 2, and Millea imposed a no-contact order between Izzo and his father.

Carl D. Izzo also admitted himself for a mental evaluation, Det. Christopher DeCesare reported.
