Alleged Gambling Leader Arraigned On Drug Charges

A statewide grand jury indicted Vincent Tallo, of Johnston, and his wife on drug charges.

Rhode Island Atty. Gen. Peter Kilmartin announced this morning that a statewide grand jury has indicted a Johnston man and his wife on drug charges after they were arrested in May, 2011, for allegedly running an illegal gambling ring.

Vincent R. Tallo and his wife, Helene, are scheduled for arraignment in Providence Superior Court on Feb. 29.

In a statement released this morning, Kilmartin said that Vincent Tallo was indicted for possession of oxycodone, methadone, and marijuana with intent to deliver the drugs, and possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs.

Helene Tallo was indicted on a charge of marijuana possession, first offense.

The couple were arrested during a State Police raid of their home on May 6, 2011, the result of an investigation into a gambling and racketeering operation that included several known Mafia figures.
