Alleged BB Gun Shooter Ordered Held At Training School

Johnston Police arrested two teens after one of them allegedly shot BB pellets at walkers in Johnston Memorial Park.

A 17-year-old North Providence teen was remanded to the Rhode Island Training School at a special arraignment after arrested him for allegedly firing a BB gun at walkers inside Memorial Park on March 11. A 17-year-old girl was reportedly struck by a pellet, but was not seriously injured.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old from Johnston who was allegedly driving the SUV after finding the two teens in the Johnston High School parking lot.

The 17-year-old was charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon and disharging a firearm from a motor vehicle; the 16-year-old was charged with conspiracy and released to his parents' custody.

This incident does not appear to be related to the recent string of BB-gun incidents along Route 146, police said.
