5 Things, Mar. 19: Parks, Tryouts, Sunny, Savings, Crash

It's the last official day of winter (although that doesn't mean much here in New England), and here are your 5 Things To Know Today.

Parks: What's your favorite open space in Johnston? Click here for our newest Readers' Choice poll and cast your vote.

Tryouts: Tonight begins tryouts for Johnston Little League at Ferri Middle School. Nine-year-olds get their chance tonight; 10s tomorrow night, 11s and 12s on Wednesday night, and all age groups on Thursday night. All tryouts begin at 6 p.m. For additional information please visit the Johnston Little League website at: http://www.eteamz.com/johnstonrill/

Sunny: Sure feels like spring already — the JohnstonPatch WeatherBug forecast is calling for sun and highs in the 60s. Overnight lows in the 40s with a chance of snow — JUST KIDDING. Tomorrow's forecast is pretty much the same as today's.

Savings: Quick — name two pieces of information you'd like to know before you head out of the house today. How about where's the cheapest gas nearby, and whether there are any traffic problems on your route? We've got you covered — click here for our Traffic & Gas page.

Crash: From our police log published on this date last year, Johnston Police had no problem tracking down a hit-and-run suspect after his car left a trail of debris and fluids form the accident scene to where his car finally stopped. Drunk? The responding officer thought so, but the suspect refused the breathalyzer test.
