Teresa (Pesare) Scarcella, 76, of Johnston, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Nicola Scarcella. Born in Sava, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Cosimo and Angela (Scazzari) Pesare. Mrs. Scarcella was the original Proprietor of Mama Teresa’s Restaurant and was known to many as “Mama”. Teresa lost her husband 39 years ago and devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she will be deeply missed by.
She is survived by her six children, Joseph Scarcella, Angela DiRocco, Chiara Rudzin, Giuliano Scarcella, Sergio and Anthony Scarcella. Teresa was the cherished grandmother of twelve and great grandmother of two. She was the sister of Viola Merolli, Elvira Miccoli, Liliana Capraro, Nella Gigantelli, Leonardo Pesare and the late Antonio, Giuseppe and Antonietta Pesare.
Funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Robert Bellarmine Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
