Obituary: Gerald A. Ferrante Sr., 70

Gerald A. Ferrante Sr., 70, of Johnston, died Friday, June 21, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Gerald A. Ferrante Sr., 70, of Johnston, died Friday, June 21, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

A son of the late Peter and Marion (Barone) Ferrante, he was born in Providence on Sept. 28, 1942, and lived there most of his life.

Jerry was a gifted auto mechanic who could diagnose and fix just about any problem. He also loved all kinds of music, especially rock ‘n’ roll. He owned the Grooveyard record store in the 1970s and had a personal record collection numbering in the many thousands.

Jerry leaves a son, Gerald Jr., and his wife, Andrea, of Prior Lake, Minn., and their four children. He also is survived by two brothers, Michael of Spring Hill, Fla., and William of Providence.

He also leaves several loving aunts, a niece, and nephew, cousins and an uncle.

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 26, beginning at 6PM with a service to follow at 7:30 PM at the A.A. Mariani & Sons Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence. Burial will be private.
