Claire L. Gawel, 83, passed away Tuesday, July 02, 2013.
She was born in Belmont, MA, a daughter of the late Edward A. and Harriet G. (Donnelly) Doe. Mrs. Gawel worked in accounting for WBZ TV & Radio in Boston for several years before leaving in 1963 to raise her family. She lived in Glocester for many years before moving to Johnston 13 years ago.
She was the loving mother of Marian J. Gawel, Jr. (Suzanne) of Cumberland, Patricia A. Piros (Glenn) of Spring Hill, FL, Anna Gawel of Tampa, FL, Michael A. Gawel (Toni) of Greenville and Marjorie Gawel and her fiancé John Mercer both of Cape Cod, MA. She was the sister of Barbara H. Ritter of Harwich, MA and the late Wendell E. Doe; also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
Her funeral will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 at 10am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Harwich, MA. Visitation Sunday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Philip Church will be appreciated.
