Michael Zanni

The Johnston native and World War II veteran passed away on June 8, 2012.

Michael Zanni,

93, of Cranston, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carmella (Ricci) Zanni, married 66 years. Michael was born in Johnston, a son of the late Joseph and Rafaela (Carnevale) Zanni, he served in the 118th Engineers in WWII and 27 years in the Rhode Island National Guard.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Deborah Zanni-Thatch and husband, Kenneth, of Cranston; Michele A. Zanni “Mickie Lee Marshall” of Coventry; State Rep. Michael A. Zanni and wife, Linda, of Scituate; his cherished grandchildren, Kara Zanni, Shayla Zanni-Thatch, Ginger Grant-Thatch, USN, and Kyle Zanni-Thatch, USMC; his devoted siblings, Anna Ricci, Benny Zanni and Rose Marcaccio, all of Johnston, and was also the brother of the late Anthony Zanni, Guy Zanni, Marie Velino and Josephine Zanni. He was also the “Adopted” Father of Darlene Cory and Carmen Cadotte. Michael was also survived by a special niece, Sandra Wood and a special nephew, Robert Boatner.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.

Visiting Hours: Monday 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: VNA of RI 475 Kilvert St.,  Warwick, RI 02886.
