Donald J. Harter

The Johnston resident and Navy veteran of World War II passed away Friday, May 18, 2012.

 

Donald J. Harter, 85, of Mulberry Circle, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ella A. (Corsi) Harter.

Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, he was a son of the late Jesse and Amanda (Horn) Harter. He had lived in Johnston since 1974.

Mr. Harter was a meat specialist for Monarch Food Service before retiring.

He was a member and Past President of the Warwick Sportsmen’s Club, a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a former member of the Holy Name Society. He was a WWII Navy veteran and had fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan J. Bressette and her husband, Frank and Kathleen A. DellaTorre and her husband, John, all of Johnston and his four grandchildren: Donald J. and Bethany F. Bressette, Kristen E. Buonanno and Kerry E. Della Torre. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Alvather and Rogers Harter.

Funeral Tuesday at 10 am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Anthony’s Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4 to 7 pm.
