Daniel F. O'Connor, Jr.: U.S. Army Veteran, Owner of Snowhurst Farm

Burial with military honors is scheduled for Saturday at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston.

 

Daniel F. O'Connor, Jr., 68, passed away Oct. 2, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cheryl (Whitehead) O'Connor and was a son of the late Daniel J. and Mildred (O'Donnell) O'Connor, formerly of Scituate, RI.

He was the father of "the O'Connor Girls" Deborah Jacobson of North Smithfield; Susan Waterman of Glocester; Lisa Erb of Cranston; and Cheri-Lyn Pierce of Warwick; father-in-law of Paul Jacobson, David Miller, James Erb and Michael Pierce; grandfather of Sean Jacobson, Faith Jacobson, Corinne Soares, Ryan Soares, Zachary Erb, Christopher Erb, Robert Pierce and Daniel Pierce; great-grandfather of Teighan Jean Soares; brother of Peter R. O'Connor of Virginia and Mark S. O'Connor of Florida.

Mr. O'Connor was born in Providence, RI, grew up in Scituate, RI, and was a graduate of Scituate High School. He served in the US Army and retired from New England Telephone after 31 years of service. He was recognized as a commendable cable splicer. He and his wife, Cheryl, lived in Chepachet for 40 years and are the dedicated owners and operators of Snowhurst Farm in Chepachet.

Mr. O'Connor was an exceptional farmer and a member of the RI Fruit Growers Association and the RI Farm Bureau. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather and considered himself blessed to have four daughters. He was a lifelong cowboy. Hug your daughters often!

His funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at 9 am in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., (Rt. 44) Greenville. Burial with military honors will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.

Visiting hours: Friday from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
