Anthony Catanzaro

The former Johnston resident and World War II Army veteran passed away on Sept. 21, 2012.

 

Anthony Catanzaro, 96, of Cooper Road, Chepachet, a retired Cartographer for Army Map Service, died Friday at Bayberry Commons. He was the widower of Anna C. (Restivo) Catanzaro.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Bartolo J. and Rose (Sansone) Catanzaro. He had previously lived in Johnston for 55 years.

He was a Major in the US Army, serving in the 21st Infantry during WWII.

He is survived by his children, Betty Callahan of Chepachet; Robert Catanzaro of Bluffton, SC; and Anthony Catanzaro of Cedar Park, TX; his grandchildren, Keith and Julie Catanzaro; Gina Fothergill and Michael Callahan; his four great-grandchildren and a sister, Ida Seddon of Providence. He was the father of the late Raymond Catanzaro and brother of the late Philip, Cosmo, and Bartholomew, and Conchetta Sherman.

Funeral Monday at 8:30 am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Rt. 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville.

Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.

Visitation Sunday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02908.
