Very 'Pinteresting'

Pinterest is a free picture and video sharing platform that allows people to organize and share things of interest they find on the web using what is called pins and pinboards.

Pinterest is a free picture and video sharing platform that allows people to
organize and share things of interest they find on the web using what is called
pins and pinboards. Members use pinboards to do things like plan their weddings,
decorate their homes, organize their favorite recipes, share their hobbies and
interests and much more.

Users also have the ability to browse pinboards created by other people
which is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from those that
share your interests. Pinterest also has additional social networking type
features through the use of profiles, descriptions, hashtags, comment fields and
the ability for people to follow each others activity within the
community.

There are multiple browser add-ons available that make pinning easy and fun
while surfing the web and lots of mostly free third party tools that can make
your Pinterest experience more enjoyable and creative.

Pinterest has almost 20 million active users every month and growing and it
is the third most popular social network in the U.S. in terms of traffic. Some
of the top interests on Pinterest in the U.S. include crafts, gifts, hobbies,
home and garden, leisure, interior design, and fashion.

If you are a business looking for new ways to reach out to potential
markets you might want to have a serious look at Pinterest.

Here are just a few reasons why...

Close to 70% of users are women.

28 percent of users have a household income of $100k+.

Almost 1.5 million visitors each day.

Users average almost 16 minutes on the site per visit.

Pinterest referrals spend 70% more than visitors referred from non-social
channels, including search.

Shoppers referred by Pinterest are 10% more likely to make a purchase than
visitors who arrive from other social networks.

After spending several weeks researching and testing all things Pinterest I
am convinced that most people including casual Internet users, social media
junkies and even businesses can benefit at some level from the Pinterest
experience.
