Senior Center Board appointments made

Mayor Polisena also who were nominated to the Advisory Board, two by himself and one each by the members of th Town Council.

The new Advisory Board is meant to support the operations of the center and help the town adhere to legal guidelines for the handling of state funds.

Cougars keep up win streak

The Johnston-North Providence Cougars, the cooperative boys' hockey team that incudes players from both high schools, .

On December 22, the Cougars secured a come-from-behind win against Toll Gate High School in a nondivisional tilt. The squad also defeated East Providence on December 18 by a score of 3-1, and routed Woonsocket High School, 11-2, on December 17.

Next up for the Cougars is a December 31 rematch against defending divisional champs Mount Hope High School. In their last contest, played December 10, the Cougars prevailed, 5-1.

School Board lauds Conti

At its final meeting of 2010, the School Committee in thanks for his service.

Conti, who represented District 5 on the board, will be succeeded by Susan Mansolillo.

Council OKs dedication to Fargnoli

The Town Council of a room in the new library to Michael Fargnoli, the town's electrical inspector who died on December 7.

Mayor Polisena requested the resolution, and Councilman Ernest Pitochelli made the motion at the Council's December 9 meeting. Last Thursday, the Council approved the motion by a 5-0 vote.
