The area got between 3 and 4 inches of rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea, swelling the Pawtuxet River over its banks near Fletcher Avenue and giving it a steady roar at the Pawtuxet River Bridge in Pawtuxet Village.

An elderly man from Florida has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash Wednesday on Bristol Ferry Road.
Elia Giusti, 79, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, was pronounced dead at Newport Hospital after the three-vehicle crash on Bristol Ferry Road.
