The National Weather Service forecast a mix of rain and snow to begin in the early morning hours continuing through this afternoon, dropping around an inch of snow on Johnston. The January thaw is over. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s, even eclipsing 60 in some areas, were recorded for much of the past week. Today's snow marks a stark change, with temperatures expected to be more seasonable, topping out in the 30s for the rest of week.
