RI Locals to Host Fundraiser For Women Injured in Bombing

A fundraiser for Celeste and Sydney Corcoran, who were badly injured at the Boston Marathon bombing, is set for April 29.

Family and relatives of the Corcoran family are coming together to organize a fundraiser for .

Doctors had to amputate both of Celeste's legs below the knees. Her daughter, 18-year-old Sydney, had shrapnel lodged in both her legs. A picture of an injured Sydney on the sidewalk of Boylston Street made the front page of many major media outlets following the attack. Doctors expect both women to face a lengthy and expensive rehabilitation for their injuries.

In addition to the recovery fund online (which has almost $600,000), the Corcorans family and friends from the Ocean State have organized a fundraiser to help with their medical expenses.
