Reader Roundup: Concerns Fall 'On Deaf Ears'

Check out a sampling of reader comments on Patch sites throughout the region.

Johnston: "How sad that our Residential Single Family Neighborhood is further contaminated by the Briarcliffe disease ... Bottom line........It's all about money. If they build the 70,000 s.f. Assisted Living Facility it kicks more tax dollars into the Town chest. Too bad that all of the concerns voiced by the neighborhood residents have fallen on deaf ears." — Joe Goudici, commenting on Briarcliffe Gets Council Approval on Lot Size Waiver

Coventry: “People complain when the roads are bad and then complain when they are being repaired”  — Ron, commenting on Everlasting Road Construction

Cranston: The ACLU and Jessica are the cause of this lawsuit. They initiated it and to deny that is to ignore the facts. The prayer has been there for decades, but until Jessica, her parents and the ACLU decided to sue the city, the banner has not cost the taxpayers any more than the cost of a quart of paint. So, don't try to put the responsibility for legal costs on the back of anyone but Jesica." — Joe The Plumber, commenting on Prayer Mural Gets its Day in Court.

The school board and the town's government are violating the constitution, not Jessica. The police, victims, and courts, are not the "cause" of the costs of prosecuting a criminal, the criminal is the cause by violating law. To attempt this lame switching of blame is just vindictive casuistry, and deceitful. This blame the messenger routine is getting old and was always pathetic and wrong." — Liberty Janus, commenting on Prayer Mural Gets its Day in Court.

East Greenwich: "No, no, no! As a student, there is simply NOT enough space for 200+ students. We hardly have enough room as there is." — egstudent13, commenting on Jamestown Weighs Sending High Schoolers to EG Instead of NK

North Kingstown: "After such a gallant attempt at self-rescue they put her down??? How about a pardon?" — Bill Gannon, commenting on Loose Cow Put Down After Bridge Ordeal

South Kingstown: "Politics as usual in Rhode Island. Ignore an issue for years then do as little as possible so that you can claim that you did something. A 202 foot barrier isn't going to stop the ocean. Let's be realistic and think logically." — Thomas Browning, commenting on Town Moves Forward on Matunuck Headland Project

Woonsocket: "its insulting as a taxpayer that the city thinks nothing of paying quadruple what it should for a barren piece of land." — ok pal, commenting on Council Approves Purchase of Land for Water Treatment Plant
