Get Out: Your Weekend Planner

Every Thursday, JohnstonPatch lists great weekend events and activities in and around our town.

Living History: is the place for the first annual Liberty Fest, a celebration of America's history and heroes, hosted by the Johnston Education Foundation. The event is free, and scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 30 at the park.

Football & Cheerleading Registration: Saturday is the last day for registration for Johnston Panther Pre-Teen Football and Cheerleading (sorry, you can't do both). Cost is $100 per child, $150 for 2 kids, and $25 for each additional participant. Full payment due at sign-up; bring a copy of your child's birth certificate, too. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon.

Crafts At Mohr Library: As it does every Saturday, Marian J. Mohr Library hosts drop-in crafts on April 30 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for children over the age of 3. Check out the new building if you haven't yet.

Spruce Up The Place: The Johnston Historical Society will hold a clean-up of the yard around the Elijah Angell House on Sunday, May 1, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Be A Buddy: Paws and Sox, the mascots for rhe Pawtucket Red Sox, are the scheduled guests of honor at the First Annual Best Buddies Rhode Island Friendship Walk, to be held May 1 at Garden City Shopping Center in Cranston. Registration at 8:45 a.m., walk begins at 10. Walkers who raise more than $50 will recieve a spiffy Best Buddies t-shirt.

Come One, Come All: The circus is in town! Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey come to Providence for 9 shows this weekend. Tickets start at $19, and show times can be found on the Dunkin Donuts Center's web site.
