Professional Fighter to Promote Girl Power in Johnston

Rhode Island Girls between the ages of 12 through 18 are invited to meet Christina Rondeau and her trainers at Rondeau's Kickboxing Studio in Johnston.


Girls in Johnston can learn some self defense while working out with a professional trainer next week as the Child and Family Ophelia Program will present an Ophelia Session on Girl Power. And it's all free.

Rhode Island Girls between the ages of 12 through 18 are invited to meet Christina Rondeau and her trainers at Rondeau’s Kickboxing Studio in Johnston on Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. - noon.

The girls will learn ways to stay healthy and about self-defense. In addition to learning kickboxing and self-defense as a group, attendees will also have one-to-one coaching with a Rondeau’s Kickboxing trainer. Following an upbeat, adrenaline pumping workout, guests will wind down with lunch and the opportunity to talk to Rondeau about how she started her business and became successful.

Attendance is limited and advance reservations are required. To reserve a spot,  email hlykas@childandfamilyri.com or call 401-848-4206. The event is free and open to girls and young women in Rhode Island, ages 12 through 18. Lunch will be provided to all guests.

Christina Rondeau, a professional fighter and trainer, was among the original creators of the fitness kickboxing craze 20 years ago. She brings reality self-defense to her classes with the goal of empowering girls and women, and helping them stay safe and reach their fitness goals.

The Child & Family Ophelia Program is an innovative and inspiring series of community forums and activities for girls and young women. The program welcomes and engages girls and young women between the ages of 11 and 18 from diverse backgrounds in a safe and inviting environment to explore the social, psychological and cultural issues which have a lifelong impact on their development.
