What stunk more, the dead squid, the bill from the dirty sock or the last session of the General Assembly?

It has been recently reported that Rhode Island has lost over a BILLION dollars in personal income from 2000 to 2006. What does this mean? This is the estimated personal income figure for the people that moved out of Rhode Island in that time period. Since 2006 we have lost 10% of our prime working age population to other states. This isn't businesses, these are workers. Families that have had enough and said kiss my butt goodbye Rhode island. Ten percent is an estimated 68,269 workers. This is as if the population of Johnston, Smithfield and Lincoln moved out of the state and left ghost towns in their places.

Its gets worse folks... CNBC just published a study that placed Rhode Island at 49th for the best states for business. And to think that the General Assembly was all smiles and patting themselves on the back for a job well done when the session ended this summer. Does anyone else remember the promises that were made by our law makers that THIS was going to be the session that focused on getting Rhode Islands economy moving again.
What did we end up with from this session? Same sex marriage so at least there would be new married folk that could pool their unemployment checks together to try to pay the rent, a dead squid rotting on a desk in the state house along with our fishing industry's future, and you and I holding the bag once again this time over a backroom deal for a bloody sock and a video game named 38 Studios.

So what stinks more???
The dead squid, the dirty sock or the representatives in the state house that have long forgotten about YOU and YOUR FAMILY? Why did it happen? Why was it business as usual? Because many of them have been there to darn long and there are too few fighters that are willing to look their own party members square in the eye and FIGHT FOR YOU! YOU DON"T MATTER TO THEM until election day.

Voters of Rhode Island, November 2014 will be here before you know it and as you are walking into that voting booth take a good sniff of the ballot and ask what stinks? The smell of your family's future is coming from most of the names that have the little "incumbent" notation next to them.

It's time to stand up for your yourselves and your children and put FIGHTERS in those seats. Let's make some noise and lets make some progress. Democrat or Republican IT DOES NOT MATTER as long as they care about what YOU THINK and are willing to take the gloves off and fight for you.

As far as the same old usual names remember this... YOU DON"T OWE THEM A DARN THING! The State of Rhode Island and it's business as usual OWES YOU, and IT"S TIME TO COLLECT!
