Labels!

LABELS!
Democrat, Republican, Black, White, Christian, Atheist, Straight, Gay... the list goes on and on. Imagine for a moment if everyone in the world was born without sight. Nobody could see a difference from one person to another. Imagine the power of an entire world that worked together for the benefit of each other.

Crazy idea??? Well probably but I am getting at a point here.
I have attended both Republican and Democratic functions and there is one common thread I find over and over... when the conversation has nothing to do with politics, we all share the same ideals and concerns. We all want our families and ourselves to be safe, healthy and happy. That is the driving force of people regardless of their label.

And how has Rhode Island and America for that matter gotten to the point that we are at? By concerning ourselves more with the labels then the people we elect and represent.

I may sound naive but one of the definitions of the word naive is: of having or showing unaffected simplicity of nature or absence of artificiality;

I accept that definition. What is the driving force of my fights? To protect each and every one of our rights, and to protect against those that put self interests and suppression against each and every person's right to obtain safety, health and happiness.

We need those with these ideals in the State House to stand up and say NO MORE! I will NOT vote yea or nay because my party leadership tells me to, I will not trade a bill at the cost of the better good of my constituents and I will FIGHT for each and every person that resides in the state no matter how you try to discredit, defame or injure me as a person because you are not injuring me... you are injuring and ignoring the people of Rhode Island. These are my ideals and they will never change.
