Newport Concert Series At The Newport Yachting Center Welcomes A Reggae Legend To The Summer Stage

The Newport Concert Series at the Newport Yachting Center announces that legendary reggae artist, Ziggy Marley – The Fly Rasta Tour, is returning to perform along Newport Harbor on Friday, June 20th.  Tickets are available now for purchase for $36.50, $46.50 and $61.50 by visiting www.newportwaterfrontevents.com or by calling 800-745-3000.  The gates for the concert will open at 5:30 p.m. with live music starting on the Point Stage at 6:00 p.m. and the Main Stage at 7:00 p.m. The Newport Concert Series will take place from late May through October at its unique waterfront venue in the heart of historic downtown Newport.

Son of reggae legend Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley has made a name for himself in the reggae world with a career recognized far beyond his unmatched musical talents. He is a six-time Grammy winner, Emmy winner and award-winning producer. As frontman for Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers, the group released eight best-selling albums that garnered three Grammys, with such chart-topping hits as "Look Who’s Dancing," "Tomorrow People" and "Tumbling Down." In addition to his new album Fly Rasta, Marley is also releasing his debut children’s book “I Love You Too.”  The multicultural picture book is based on one of Marley’s most beloved songs of the same title from his Grammy Award-winning album “Family Time,” which explores a child’s relationship with parents, nature and the unstoppable force of love.

The Newport Concert Series at the Newport Yachting Center has announced four other shows to-date.  The Wailers & Rusted Root on Saturday, May 31st, Barenaked Ladies on Friday, July 18th, ARIAT Presents Josh Turner’s Roughstock and Rambler Tour on Thursday, August 14th and Chris Young on Saturday, September 20th.  Tickets for all shows are on sale now. More concerts will be announced on a weekly basis this spring with the goal of having a minimum of 16 concerts this season.
