Your Guide to the Johnston Apple Festival, Sept. 29

Today is the first day of the 25th Annual Apple Festival, held at Johnston Memorial Park. Check out today's schedule.

 

This weekend at Johnston Memorial Park, the North Central Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to hold its 25th Annual Apple Festival, including food, music, and entertainment for all ages.

Here's your guide for the first day of the Apple Festival, Sept. 29:

Update: The band and campfires scheduled for Sept. 29 at 6 pm have been cancelled.

Where: Johnston Memorial Park, Hartford and Memorial Avenues, Johnston.

When: 10 am to 8 pm.

Parking: Limited parking inside Memorial Park. Free shuttle provided by Hurd GMC from Johnston High School beginning at 11 am.

Vendors: Nearly 90 food, arts and crafts, and other vendors will be on hand. Note: Not all vendors accept credit or debit cards. See the map below for nearest ATMs.

Events and Activities:

10 am to 3 pm: Classic Car Show. Awards presented between 2 and 3 pm.

11: 30 to noon: Opening Parade and Ceremonies featuring the Johnston High School Band & Chorus

Noon to 1 pm, main stage: Knuf Said

1 to 2:30 pm: Apple Pie Competition, followed by "Best of the Best" Apple Pie Competition among past winners

2:30 to 3 pm, main stage: Johnston Drama & Performing Arts   

3 pm: Cupcake cook-off, featuring free samples available to visitors          

3 to 4 pm: Bob & Jen Mainelli — The Holiday          

4 to 5:30 pm: U.S. Navy Band R.I. Sound

6 to 8 pm: Live band on the island with campfires by local Boy Scouts. [CANCELLED]
