Video: 2nd Annual Lollipop-A-Palooza

JohnstonPatch columnist Johanna Corcoran organized the annual contest among five competitors to see who had the best lollipop.

The accompanying video shows the scene at the 2nd Annual Lollipop-A-Palooza event, held Nov. 6 at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket.

Organized by JohnstonPatch columnist and Mom's Council member , the event included a contest among five area businesses, plus activities provided by event sponsors, and a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band.

Two businesses from East Greenwich swept the awards, with Scrumptions taking the Most Creative award for their apple pie pops, and Sweet Twist collecting the Tastiest and People's Choice awards for their "Peace, Love, and Pretzels" pops, made of two pretzels doused in caramel and dipped in chocolate.

Also participating were Sweet Cakes of Peace Dale who brought cake-and-cream-cheese pops; Chocolate Dreams of Coventry who offered their "Peace Out Krispee" pops; and Emma's Edibles of Warwick with their chocolate-dipped Oreo cookie pops.

The event also raised more than $3,200 for Friend's Way, a bereavement and counseling agency for children and their families — the only one of its kind in Rhode Island.
