Taso's Bike Run Hits the Road a Second Time on Sunday

The Atwood Avenue restaurant is scheduled to host a bike run and car show starting at 9 am tomorrow.

Customers of at 1500 Atwood Ave. already know owner Tommy Thomaidis's commitment to local kids' programs from the multiple plaques and tee-shirts on display.

For the second year in a row, Thomaidis is scheduled to host a bike run and car show to benefit the Johnston Community Center Association in the eatery's parking lot, beginning tomorrow at 9 am.

"We've always given money to the sports and other things, so this is why I'm doing it — to help the JCCA," explained Thomaidis, who added that he expects a "big turnout — everybody's coming in."

Money raised from the event will provide Christmas baskets for families in Johnston, and Thomaidis said it will also help two local kids who are battling cancer.

Thomaidis explained there will be attractions for all ages, including bouncy-houses for youngsters, DJs and live entertainment — and, of course, classic rides to check out.

Registration for the event is $25, which includes lunch and a tee-shirt for participants. The bike run is scheduled to begin at 11 am and return about two hours later.
