Patch Picks: 5 Places To Get New Tires

This week, we look at places in town where you can replace those worn-out tires.

You wouldn't know from the weather today, but there are still a few weeks of winter left — and there's probably no better time to make sure the tires on your car are up to snuff to carry you through the last blasts of Old Man Winter.

Here's a quick list of local shops where you can get the treads checked out and replaced:

Langella Tire: 1145 Atwood Ave. Family owned and operated for the last 41 years, Langella stocks Uniroyal, Cooper, Kelly, B.F. Goodrich, and Michelin tires.

Tire Pros: 2670 Hartford Ave. Also a location for state emissions and safety inspections, Tire Pros was first opened in 1975.

Town Fair Tire: 1412 Atwood Ave. Pretty straightfoward, this place. Tires, rims, and professional installation. Located in front of the Stop & Shop plaza on Atwood.

Midas Auto Service Experts: 1307 Hartford Ave. Opened in 1993, this shop is a full-service auto repair facility. Along with having your tires checked, you can also have that nagging "Check Engine" light diagnosed.

Ocean State Tire Co.: 62 Shun Pike. This shop also offers retreading services for the big rigs (bigger than the Hummer 2, anyway) and repair services, along with tires for trailers. Stocks Toyo, Dunlop, Road Lux, Goodyear, Kelly and Tech King tires.
