Johnston Doctor Surrenders License

Johnston physician James A. Gosper has voluntarily surrendered his license due to health reasons.

 

Johnston physician James A. Gosper, 68, who has a practice located at 1524 Atwood Ave., has notified the Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline that he wishes to surrender his physician license due to health concerns, reported The Rhode Island Department of Health.

Gosper was operating under the terms of a consent order from 2008, which subjected him to monitoring after he tested positive for inappropriate benzodiazepine use. It was the third relapse since his monitoring program began in 2005.

Gosper has been licensed for internal medicine in Rhode Island since August of 1973.  He also had privileges at Joseph's Hospital.
