Apr. 11: Petrol, Play, Past, Precip, Protest

Places to find gas for less than $4 a gallon, our Readers' Poll on sporting goods, and a look back at RI history are in our 5 Things To Know Today.

Petrol: We'v ebeen hearing the warnings for weeks now — and it's happened: gasoline in some places has hit $4 a gallon. With just a little looking, though, you can find some sub-$4 prices in Johnston by checking out our Commute page.

Play: The weather may not be the best today for it (see number 4 below), but it's the time of year to gear up for outdoor sports — and we're looking for your votes on the best place in the Johnston area to shop for sporting goods.

Past: Marian J. Mohr Library, 1 Memorial Ave., hosts Roger Williams National Memorial Ranger John McNiff for a discussion on early Rhode Island history tonight at 6 p. The event is free, though registration is strongly encouraged: (401) 231-4980.
