Mohr Programs: Today at Mohr Library:

  • Today's craft for students in grades 6 to 12 (starting at 2:30 p.m.) is making a candy corn garland in honor of Thanksgiving.
  • Know what a thaumatrope is? (Don't Google it — it's a Victorian-era animation.) Tonight at 6:30 p.m., the folks from the Rhode Island Museum Science and Art are scheduled to lead a session teaching kids in grades 6 to 12 how to make one.

Help Our Returning Heroes: Local business owners and members of the military and their spouses are invited to today's "Hiring Our Heroes" job fair in Warwick. The North Central Chamber of Commerce is among the business organizations teaming up to offer this opportunity to match employers with veterans.

Brighten A Kid's Holiday: The Bridge at Cherry Hill assisted living residence is continuing to serve as a Toys for Tots drop-off site. Bring new, unwrapped toys between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information, contact Gayle Raposa, Activities Director at 401-233-2880.

No Children's Museum: Since we usually post their programs when they're open, we should also let you know that the Providence Children's Museum is closed today.

Silence Speaks Louder: On this date in 1973, President Richard Nixon's attorney, J. Fred Buzhardt, told the Advisory Panel on the White House Tapes that there was an 18-minute gap in one of the recordings made of Nixon's coversations in the Oval Office. This episode served as the beginning of the end for Nixon, who later resigned.
