Hearing On Senior Care: U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse is expected to chair a special "field hearing" on federal programs aimed at helping senior citizens. Called "Preserving Programs for Our Nation's Seniors," the event is scheduled for 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the senior center.

Book Discussion: The Marian J. Mohr Library (meet the new library, same as the old library) hosts Readers' Lair for students in grades 6 through 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Andrew Greene Young Adult Room. Tonight's reading selection is Lies by Michael Grant.

Donate Today: You can roll up your sleeve and serve a pint of your finest red stuff at the Rhode Island Blood Center's Bloodmobile today from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Peter J. Pastore Youth Center in Cranston, right next to the YMCA.
