Great Escape: After You Feast, Get Out And About

There are a few holiday fairs to get you in the spirit this weekend — but if you'd rather not shop, there's still a lot going on.

It's That Time of Year:

  • Enjoy two days of fun at the Festival Fete’s Holiday Market at the RI Convention Center this weekend, Nov. 25 and 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  This family-friendly event will feature more than 125 art and artisans, food, a farmer’s market, visits with Santa and lots of other entertainment. Admission is $5 and children younger than age 12 are free. You can get more information or order tickets in advance by visiting: Festival Fete or RI Convention Center.
  • More holiday crafts are to be found this weekend at the Ocean State Artisans 21st Annual Holiday Craft Festival at the CCRI Campus in Warwick. This festival runs Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Nov. 26 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $2 with proceeds being donated to local charities. Bring a non-perishable food item with you and receive $1 off admission. Food items will be donated to the RI Community Food Bank.  For more information visit: www.oceanstateartisans.com.

Lots of music of all kinds:

  • The Trans Siberian Orchestra will be performing two shows at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. as part of its 2011 Winter Tour. Visit the Dunkin’ Donuts Center website for more ticket and show information.
  • The RI Civic Chorale & Orchestra will perform Wholly Handel, the area’s only performance of Handel’s Messiah in its entirety, on Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the The Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul in Providence. You can find out more about this performance at www.ricco.org.
  • Join The Wild Turkey Band at The Met, Hope Artist Village, Pawtucket, this weekend for their second reunion shows on Nov. 25 and 26. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for each show but there’s a two-night special for $25. Check out: www.themetri.com for more information.
  • There’s a lot going on at the Lighthouse Bar at Twin River Casino in Lincoln this weekend. D5 & After Effect, a local cover band from Providence, will perform on Nov. 25 at 8:30 p.m. Steve Anthony & Persuasion will take the stage on Nov. 26 at 8:30 p.m., followed by Roger Ceresi’s All Starz, a rhythm and blues horn band, on Nov. 27 at 2 p.m.  Check out the Lighthouse Bar’s entire schedule at: Lighthouse Bar.
