St. Joseph's Day: The Johnston Senior Center hosts a St. Joseph's Day celebration starting at 11 a.m. Lunch starts at noon; phone reservations are strongly advised — contact Brenda at 944-3343, ext. 109 to reserve your spot. Suggested donation is $3 for those older than 60, $4 for those 60 and under.

Comedy & Cuisine: The Johnston High School Parent Teacher Student Organization has scheduled a "Comedy and Cuisine" fundraiser tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. at JHS. Email colar840@aol.com for tickets ($25 for dinner and show, $15 for show only) and more information.

Public Skate: Smithfield Ice Rink again opens the frozen surface to public skating today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission $3, skates $5. Face-plants are free.

Met Life Family Friday: Tonight from 5 to 8 p.m., Providence Children's Museum is offering free admission, thanks to MetLife. Sorry, Snoopy won't be there, but kids between 5 and 11 years of age can build a hoop glider in the FETCH lab.
