5 Things To Know Today: March 10

Lots to do at Mohr Library; Play and Learn at Providence Children's Museum; public hockey at Smithfield Ice Rink; Pennies for Patients continues; and today in history: birth of the telephone.

Mohr Programs: Marian J. Mohr Library has a busy schedule today, including:

  • Story hour for 2- and 3-year-olds starting at 10:30 a.m.
  • Advisory Club meeting at 3:30 p.m. Students in grades 6 to 12 are welcome to join the MAC (Mohr Advisory Club) and share their ideas for library events and programs.
  • Reader's Lair book club starting at 6:30. A program for children in kindergarten through second grade, tonight's discussion will focus on Dr. Seuss.

Play And Learn: You mean kids can do both? Providence Children's Museum thinks so; that must be the thinking behind their drop-in Play and Learn program, from 10 a.m. to noon today.

Hockey In Smithfield: The Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink opens the frozen surface to public hockey today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $5 per player; goalies play free, and full equipment is required.
