Trash And Recycling: The schedule for trash and recycling will not change this week because of the holiday today. So, if you didn't put out your barrels last night, you may still have a chance.

Presidents' Day Explained: The first federal observance in honor of an American citizen, the holiday was originally established as Washington's Day, after George Washington, in 1879.  Back then, the holiday was observed on Washington's birthday, February 22.  But in 1971 Congress moved it to the third Monday in February. It wasn't until the 1980s that "Presidents' Day" started to be used. (From The National Archives)
