5 Things To Know Today: Feb. 18

J-DAPA finale at Johnston High School; more stuff to put on the calendar next week; hone your table tennis skills; not just cool karaoke; and today in history: By the way, which one's Pink?

Finale For J-DAPA: The Johnston Drama and Performing Arts troupe wraps its performance schedule of "A Night of Sin: Frank Sinatra and Friends" at Johnston High School tonight at 7 p.m. Free preview , but it just doesn't do justice to the real thing. Tix are $10.

February Vacation Plans: Start by reviewing the Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library's calendar for ideas. Then, check out the Providence Children Museum's website for events and activities. You could even combine the two, and inquire at the library whether they have passes for the Children's Museum that you can get (like Pawtucket Public Library does). Passes are good for a serious reduction in ticket price at the Children's Museum  — $2 each, people! — so it's worth the phone call to Mohr and/or the trip to The Bucket.

Don't Call It Ping-Pong: It's an Olympic sport, after all. Today at 10 a.m., upstairs at the Warburton Ice Rink in Warwick, public table tennis continues. Bring your own paddle.

Why Just Be Cool: You can be "wicked cool" as you belt out "The Rose" (if you're that talented) or "We Will Rock You" (if you're not) at Wicked Cool Karaoke at Rhode Island Alehouse tonight starting at 8:30 p.m.

Today In History: David Gilmore, guitar deity and songwriting master, joins the legendary Pink Floyd in 1968, replacing Syd Barrett. Do you know "Wish You Were Here"? Then you know David Gilmore. (From brainyhistory.com)
