5 Things To Know Today: Feb. 17

J-DAPA performs for $5; a very busy day at Mohr Library; St. Rocco School open house and science fair; Relay For Life Johnston kick-off; and today in history: Green Day frontman's First Day

J-DAPA Performance: The Johnston Drama and Performing Arts troupe will host a special $5 presentation of "A Night of Sin: Frank Sinatra and Friends" tonight at Johnston High School. See a preview of this excellent group here.

Busy Day At Mohr: Well, at least, busier than most. Here's the rundown:

Relay For Life: The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life kick-off is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Johnston Senior Center. Get info on how to volunteer, form your own team, or join the Relay's planning committee.

St. Rocco School: Because of the recent snow-related delays, the school's Open House was rescheduled to tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. While you're there, check out the science fair from 6 to 7 p.m.

Today In History: The name of the recent album was American Idiot, but they're a punk band, so I'm pretty sure it was meant ironically. Green Day's lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong, was born on this date in 1972. (From brainyhistory.com)
