The best place to live in Rhode Island?

Westerly, according to Movoto, a real estate service.

"Places like Cooked Goose, Oak St. B&B, and Ella’s Fine Food and Drink are just some of the many businesses that make up Westerly’s large number of amenities—which is a main reason it ranked so well in our list," Movoto wrote.

The company compiled this top 10 list of the best places to live in the state:

1. Town of Westerly
2. Village of Ashaway
3. Village of Hope Valley
4. Village of Kingston
5. City of Newport
6. City of Cranston
7. Village of Melville
8. City of East Providence
9. CDP of Newport East
10. City of Providence

Movoto said the list was based on the following factors:
  • Total amenities
  • Quality of life (cost of living, median home price, median rent, median household income, and student-to-teacher ratio)
  • Total crimes
  • Tax rates (sales tax and income tax)
  • Unemployment
  • Commute time
  • Weather (temperature and air quality)

Barry. No way. There's always something freaky going on there. It makes reading the East Bay Times very interesting.
