Shredding Event At Johnston Landfill Saturday

Rhode Islanders can get their personal documents shredded this Saturday from 8am-noon at the Central Landfill.

Rhode Islanders are invited to the state’s Central Landfill in Johnston this weekend for a shredding event.

The event will be held at the landfill, 65 Shun Pike, from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Rhode Islanders will be able to dispose of personal documents including bank statements, tax returns and more.

According to a news release by the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp. which operates the landfill, each family can drop off a load of personal documents that would fill up to two recycling bins or two boxes of equal size. The papers will be shredded, pulped and recycled into paper products.
