Photo Gallery: World Folktales at the Library

Award-winning storyteller Diane Edgecomb took her audience on a journey around the world.

On July 27, hosted award-winning storyteller Diane Edgecomb for a performance of her 'Around the World Folktales' program, with storytelling, songs, dance and rhythm.

The free hour-long program was sponsored by the state Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS) and the Andrew Greene Fund, named after a Johnston teen who passed away in 2007.

For 20 years, Edgecomb has been taking children to explore and celebrate the diversity of people and their cultures all over the world. She recently won the Oracle National Award for Regional Excellence in the Northeast from the National Storytelling Network.

Her voyage around the world includes segments on West Africa, Japan, and other countries. Children also got an opportunity to volunteer as animals in the rain forest — jaguars, snakes, toads and frogs — as they danced with Edgecomb.
