The Johnston Historical Society and the Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy teamed up for a walk to Hipses Rock and a High Tea at the recently-renovated Mabel Sprague House.

A guided walk to Hipses Rock and a visit to the newly-renovated Mabel Sprague House on Morgan Avenue were held on Nov. 5, a collaboration between the and the Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy.

"The first guided walk came about because of Anthony Ricci buying the Mabel Sprague historical house on Morgan avenue and preserving it," explained Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy President Elli Panichas.

On the property is the Hipses Rock, which was deeded to the town at its creation in March, 1759, Johnston Historical Society historian Steve Merolla said.

"I bought the Mabel Sprague House two years ago," said Ricci, adding the historical house was originally known as the Andrew Harris House. Built in 1768, the house has a total of 11 rooms.

There was also a short presentation at the high tea on the language of parasols by Carol Profughi, who traveled table to table to demonstrate how women "secretly" flirted with gentleman.
