Photo Gallery: Explorers Car & Bike Show — Finally!

The Johnston Police Explorers Post 405 holds their first annual event after two rain delays earlier this year.

After two rain-outs, the Johnston Police Explorers Post 405 finally held their First Annual Car & Bike Show on Oct. 1 at .

The Explorers are teens between the ages of 14 and 18 years old who volunter their services to just about every event in the community. Most of them aspire to go into law enforcement field.

Admission to the event was free, and organizers collected canned goods to help the Johnston Food Bank at the senior center.

Despite the weather, many people brought their cars and motorcycles to the show for judging by Mayor Joseph Polisena, Police Chief Richard S. Tamburini, and the Explorers. A special "longevity" trophy was also awarded to the longest-time owner of one of the vehicles.

Taking the Mayor's Choice Award was Gabe Pate for his 1968 Red Mustang. Chief Tamburini selected Angel Urena Sr. for his 1979 Harley-Davidson Custom Shovelhead, and the Explorers decided on Al & Cindy Korsak for their 2007 Atomic orange Chevy Corvette.

Louis DiBiasio took the Longevity award for his 1965 blue Chevy Impala, which he bought brand new.
