Photo Gallery: Ballroom Dancing At The Senior Center

Seniors learn the Fox Trot, Tango and more, plus they get exercise and have a lot of fun.

In the beginning of April, the Johnston Senior Citizen Center started offering insrtuctional ballroom dancing to their members and to nonmembers (Membership to the center is only $10), every Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m.

The ballroom dancing instructor is Warwick resident Tracy Rose, who learned ballroom dancing from the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Boston, Mass., over 20 years ago. Rose teaches a number of ballroom dances, like the Waltz, Fox Trot, Tango, Swing, Rumba and the Salsa, all to music from an iPod.

In addition to the seniors learning a number of classical ballroom dances, the gentlemen learn to lead and the ladies learn how to follow. They also switch dancing partners as they learn the American Social dances, which can be danced at Weddings and different parties.
