JHS Grad Takes 2nd Runner-Up in Miss RI Scholarship Pageant

Jummy Olagundoye, a native of Nigeria and founder of the Jam2Fit nonprofit organization, recently competed in the Miss RI pageant held at Rhode Island College.

 

She's been in America less than a decade, but Jummy Olagundoye is certainly making a big impression — and last week, she was among the top finishers in the Miss RI Scholarship pageant, held at Rhode Island College.

Olagundoye, who counts the among her many accomplishments while still a student at , earned 2nd runner-up honors among 15 contestants in the pageant, which is celebrating its 90th year.

"The Miss RI pageant was such an amazing opportunity and fun experience," Jummy, who's currently studying nutrition and physical education at the Community College of Rhode Island, wrote in a recent email.

Kelsey Fournier of Pawtucket won the title of Miss Rhode Island and will participate in the Miss America pageant in January 2013.
