EVENT OF THE DAY: Blood Drive At CVS

The RI Blood Center continues its summer collection drive with a stop in Greenville this afternoon.

We recently received a press release from the Rhode Island Blood Center stating that, which the American Red Cross has announced it is facing a "critical shortage" of blood, the supply in Rhode Island is "satisfactory."

The local collection agency — not affiliated with the Red Cross, though it does provide assistance to the national organziation — is still pushing ahead with its summer collection drive, including today's stop at CVS in Greenville from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

“We continue to encourage people to make and keep appointments to donate blood at Rhode Island Blood Center blood drives or donor centers, helping to assure that we maintain an adequate and safe blood supply for our community," RI Blood Center CEO Lawrence Smith said in the statement.
